Today was the last bead stitch class for 2006. I finished most of this project the other day and attached the toggle and bar at class today.
This necklace is made using the peyote stitch. It kind of reminded me of a winding staircase.
All done! Since I'll be going back to Hawaii for a bit, the next class for me will be in April.

Wow. Looks like a complicated piece of beadwork!
It was quite complicated, Monique, but after my teacher showed me the pattern, it was pretty easy to finish!

Nice work, Kat! That peyote stitch necklace is really beautiful. I lived in Honolulu most of my life and I think this necklace looks a lot like some of the Hawaiian ones, only different : )
I live in Singapore these days. I hope you have a chance to travel here and to Malaysia sometime (what Singapore used to be part of). All the plumeria trees--they call them frangipani--and the Peranakan culture (mixed Malay and Chinese), the colors and the multi ethnic culture remind me of Hawaii-- only they have a big Indian population, too and lots of great Indian food!
Thanks Dana!
I hope to visit Singapore & Malaysia some day.
Thanks for stopping by and take care.
